Once you have obtained your FDC credential, you are eligible for college credits and contact hours. Details are below.

College Credits

How to Obtain College Credits for Your Family Development Credential® (FDC™) and FDC Leadership Credential through National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS)-Available only to students who have completed their FDC 2016-present. If you completed prior to 2016, please contact the NFDC office for other options.

Learners who complete FDC programs may be eligible to receive college credit, subject to the policies of the receiving institution. NCCRS recommends credit; it does not grant credit. Acceptance of NCCRS credit recommendations is determined by individual colleges and universities. Therefore, we suggest you check with your advisor of your attending school to make sure the credits will transfer into the degree you are working towards. The following FDC courses have been reviewed by NCCRS and have been awarded with college credit recommendations for individuals upon successful completion:

Empowerment Skills for Family Workers– The credits for your FDC will transfer to your attending school for a total of 9 semester credits in an upper division baccalaureate degree.
Empowerment Skills for Leaders– The credits for your Leadership credential will transfer to your attending school for a total of 4 semester credits in an upper division baccalaureate degree or 3 semester credits for a graduate degree.

Steps to request your FDC transcript:

Fill out a Transcript Request form and send to nationalfdc@uconn.edu or use the our online form.
- Do not fill out a request if you have completed your FDC prior to 2016.
NFDC office will confirm your credential and then provide online payment link via Email to pay the transcript fee of $20.
Once payment is received, please allow 2-3 business days for transcripts to go out.

CEUs & Contact Hours

National FDC Program-University of CT-Center for the Study of Health & Human Development

Upon completion of the Family Development Credentialing Program (FDC™), you are eligible to receive contact hours, formerly known as Continuing Education Units (CEUs).

The FDC credential is the verification that you have participated in the program and satisfactorily completed the total 90 hours required. FDC participants will receive a Certificate of Completion that reflects the contact hours earned. Participants can receive Contact Hours for every hour that was accounted for during an FDC class with a Family Development Credential® Program Instructor.

If you wish to be awarded contact hours, please complete and email the Contact Hours Application form to Nationalfdc@uconn.edu. Your Certificate of Completion will be emailed back to you.
